It did not take long for me to start longing for the mountains after I moved from Colorado to the Bay Area. So I looked up to the highest spot above Palo Alto and took a ride up there on my mountain bike. It is a pretty challenging climb, following the Page Mill Road from virtually zero elevation almost all the way to Skyline, a road on the top of the ridge between the Silicon Valley and the Pacific, and then on some dirt roads and trails to Black Mountain, 2797ft. The ride down lets one savor the accomplishment.
