Monterey

Monterey, the city perhaps best known for its aquarium (official site) and famous golf courses like Pebble Beach, was another stop of our long weekend trip. There is a lot to do in the city. Aside from the aquarium, one can start by visiting the Cannery Row, or escape the tourist buzz by walking about on one the beaches or the marina. There is also a lot of attractions in the surrounding area - the town of Carmel or Pebble Beach. Just south of Monterey, California Highway 1 travels one of the more scenic parts of the coast on its way to Big Sur.
